John Rho

John is an Investor at Village Global. 

He previously worked as a Member of Technical Staff at Datacurve working on training environments for frontier coding agents. While studying Statistics and Computer Science at Harvard, he also explored professional experiences across Lazard and StubHub in addition to research at Harvard’s Kempner Institute for AI.

What’s the common thread that runs through your career?

I value curiosity, competition, and chemistry. My maxim is that the greatest results arrive serendipitously after thorough exploration, whether across research or entrepreneurship. The best accelerant comes from working fast and hard with a talented team. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside several, including at Village.

What’s one of your superpowers?

I am a self-proclaimed generalist. In a world in which people have PhD-level intelligence at their fingertips, I aspire to help orchestrate these capabilities fluently, leveraging powerful AI systems to make the world safer, smarter, and more vibrant. Being an investor lets you interpolate across domains like few other opportunities, and I hope to specifically help jumpstart founders early in their journeys during ideation and team formation.

A book you commonly gift to people?

As a (former) sneakerhead, I love to recommend Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. A lot of entrepreneurial stories feel sugarcoated but this one is very real. Startups have their highs and lows, and this book illustrates that entire cycle of competing against huge incumbents while balancing personal life obligations against founder ambitions.
