Village Global is Hiring a Senior Associate, Fund Finance and Operations

Village Global is an early-stage venture firm chaired by Reid Hoffman and backed by some of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, including Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Abby Johnson, Michael Dell, and Anne Wojcicki. We run a unique network-based strategy and have invested in hundreds of remarkable founders across sectors and around the world. Our portfolio includes companies such as FAL, Etched, Hadrian, Apex Space, and Applied Intuition.
We are a small, highly collaborative team managing multiple venture funds and related investment vehicles. We care deeply about investment excellence, operational rigor, and building systems that can support the firm's continued growth.
The role
We are hiring a Senior Associate, Fund Finance and Operations to help run the financial and operational infrastructure behind our funds.
You will own the day-to-day processes that keep our transaction records, portfolio data, quarterly reporting, and fund administration accurate and current. You will work closely with our VP of Operations, VP of Finance, investment team, fund administrators, auditors, tax advisers, and other outside service providers.
Success in this role requires more than completing assigned tasks. You will be expected to anticipate recurring needs, maintain visibility across multiple workstreams, independently drive follow-ups, and deliver work that is ready for substantive review.
This is a hands-on, internal-facing role for someone who understands venture fund operations and enjoys making complex systems work reliably. You will have visibility across the full lifecycle of our investments, from initial funding through valuation, follow-on financings, distributions, and exit, and meaningful responsibility for the information used by our partners, limited partners, auditors, and advisers.
What you'll work on
Fund transactions and portfolio data
- Record investments, capital calls, distributions, fees, expenses, and cash activity accurately across our accounting and portfolio-management systems.
- Maintain complete transaction, financing, valuation, ownership, and exit data across our funds and related vehicles.
- Review transaction documents and confirm that executed agreements, wire records, and portfolio data are complete and consistent.
Quarterly close, valuations, and reporting
- Coordinate the quarterly-close and valuation processes, including maintaining valuation support and reconciling our records against the fund administrator's.
- Review financial statements, investment schedules, capital accounts, and other administrator work product for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare reliable portfolio data for LP reporting, fundraising, audits, tax work, and internal decision-making.
Fund administration and external investments
- Coordinate deliverables with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisers, and other service providers.
- Manage operational activity for third-party funds and SPVs, including capital calls, financial statements, distributions, liquidity events, and tax packages.
- Maintain organized records, portal access, and supporting documentation so information can be produced quickly.
Project and process ownership
- Maintain visibility into recurring deadlines and drive assigned workstreams through completion, including follow-ups, dependencies, and timely escalation of blockers.
- Deliver complete, review-ready work with supporting documentation, discrepancies resolved, and open questions clearly identified.
- Anticipate upcoming needs, initiate work independently, and communicate promptly when priorities or deadlines conflict.
Systems and controls
- Support the firm's portfolio-management system migration and develop controls that improve data quality, efficiency, and scalability.
- Maintain clear procedures, checklists, ownership assignments, and status tracking for recurring responsibilities.
- Coordinate insurance renewals, vendor relationships, regulatory recordkeeping, and other operational priorities.
What we're looking for
You may be an ideal candidate if:
- You have at least three years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration, finance, or fund operations, with direct exposure to venture capital or private equity funds.
- You understand fund-level liquidity and LP economics, including commitments, capital calls, distributions, recycling and recallable capital, management fees, carried interest and waterfalls, and can independently validate administrator calculations and reporting.
- You have a demonstrated ability to independently manage recurring deadlines and multi-step workstreams from initiation through final approval while responding thoughtfully to unexpected requests.
- You understand common venture securities, including SAFEs, convertible instruments, preferred stock, and common stock, and how financing transactions affect investment cost, valuation, and ownership.
- You are highly proficient in spreadsheets and comfortable reconciling large or imperfect datasets.
- You have strong review instincts and the ability to identify inconsistencies across transaction documents, accounting records, cap tables, and administrator reports.
- You investigate discrepancies carefully and use sound judgment to determine when to investigate independently, involve a service provider, or escalate internally.
- You have a high standard for completeness: you check your work, preserve supporting documentation, and resolve loose ends.
- You have proactive communication skills, including concise status reporting, early escalation, and clear identification of decisions needed. You have a demonstrated record of producing accurate work involving financial or investment data.
- You are comfortable operating in an environment where responsibilities are broad and processes may still need to be built. You enjoy creating order, improving processes, and taking ownership of the details.
Experience with any of the following would be helpful:
- Working at a fund administrator, accounting firm, or in-house investment manager
- Supporting venture funds, SPVs, or other private investment vehicles
- Using Carta, AngelList, Ramp, or comparable fund, portfolio, or expense-management systems
- Supporting an SEC-registered investment adviser or maintaining regulatory books and records
- Reading and interpreting LPAs, side letters, subscription documents, and other fund governing documents
How we work
This is a fully remote role open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.
You should be comfortable working independently, communicating proactively in writing, and maintaining regular overlap with Pacific Time business hours. We periodically gather in person for team offsites and other firm events.
