Associate/Principal, Follow-on Investing

Village Global is an early-stage venture firm chaired by Reid Hoffman and backed by some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, including Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Abby Johnson, Michael Dell, and Anne Wojcicki. We run a unique network-based strategy and have invested in hundreds of remarkable founders across sectors and around the world. We have already backed some incredible companies at inception, including FAL, Etched, Hadrian, Apex Space, Applied Intuition, and many more.
On the Village investment team, we’re a small group of high performers — ex-entrepreneurs, operators, authors, community builders — working hard in pursuit of our mission to invest in the best technology companies of tomorrow at the earliest stages. We also have a ton of fun.
We’re at an exciting point in our journey, with hundreds of millions of dollars under management, plenty of dry powder to deploy, dozens of breakout portfolio companies, and one of the most talent-dense networks of founders in Silicon Valley. The next chapter of Village Global will be epic.
Here, you’ll be working in a culture that prizes both investment excellence and personal and professional growth. You’ll have a front-row seat to learn from some of the most exceptional founders and iconic CEOs in the world. You’ll co-host our legendary events. You’ll build a massive network. And we’ll partner with you so you can build the skills that will help you realize your highest potential as an investor.
The Role
Consequential investing decisions happen after our first check: determining where to concentrate follow-on capital and when to take chips off the table.
We're looking for an investor eager to work across our portfolio to identify breakout companies early, develop conviction for follow-on investments, evaluate secondary opportunities, collaborate with late-stage investors, share direct investment opportunities with our LPs, and optimize returns across all Village funds. You will join a team of investment professionals and add significant capacity to our existing efforts. This is a highly analytical investing role offering experience across stages and sectors. You'll have front-row access to some of the world's most ambitious founders while helping determine how one of the industry's leading early-stage firms compounds its edge over time.
What You'll Do
Follow-On Investment Recommendations
- Conduct diligence for follow-on investment opportunities across the portfolio at Series A, Series B, Series C, and sometimes beyond.
- Track ownership targets, dilution, reserves, and exit scenarios.
- Work closely with founders ahead of financing rounds.
Portfolio Analysis & Management
- Understand the health and trajectory of portfolio companies.
- Build frameworks to identify breakout companies before they're obvious.
- Analyze operating metrics, fundraising progress, talent density, hiring, product velocity, and competitive benchmarks to underwrite a broad array of portfolio companies.
Secondaries
- Evaluate opportunities to purchase founder shares or enable employee liquidity at later stages.
- Build relationships with our LPs, growth-stage VCs, and secondary market buyers.
What We're Looking For
We're open to exceptional candidates at either the Associate or Principal level. Ideal backgrounds include 2-4+ years of experience in VC or growth equity with:
- Outstanding financial and analytical skills.
- Intellectual curiosity to evaluate companies across stages, sectors, and business models. This is not a role where you will specialize in just one or two sectors. You need to be excited about cutting across enterprise software, consumer, deep tech, healthcare, and more.
- Ability to identify and structure the right information to inform strong investment decisions, and to compare risk/reward across a wide range of opportunities.
- Loves data but doesn't lose sight of founders and products. Balance founder quality and slope considerations with financial metrics.
- Engages effectively (good bedside manner) with portfolio founders and other investors. Tell us how you've collaborated with co-investors and portfolio CEOs before.
- Genuine fascination with startups and venture capital. What gets you excited about venture?
